Handprint Turkey

Celebrate Thanksgiving by making a handprint that looks like a turkey.

Materials

  • Colored paper
  • Wiggle eyes
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Have two grown-ups place their hands on a piece of red card stock. Trace around their hands and cut out.
  1. Trace the hands of each child in the family onto different colors of card stock. Cut out.
  1. Starting with the largest hands, layer smallest on top of largest. Glue the handprints together.
  1. Cut out a circle for the body and an oval for the head from brown card stock. Glue on top of the smallest hand.
  1. Cut out a small red heart for the gobbler and orange triangle for the beak. Glue in place.
  1. Glue on wiggle eyes.

Native American Sand Art

Celebrate Thanksgiving with this sand art project reflecting Native American heritage.

Materials

Instructions

  1. Print pattern on tan card stock. Cut out. Punch holes where indicated in pattern.
  1. Begin with the darkest color sand and paint an area with glue. Sprinkle on sand. Shake off excess. Continue until the entire turtle is colored in with sand.
  1. Fold hemp in half. Tie a knot 1 inch down from fold. String hemp through the top hole of the sand art, pulling up to the loop. Lace all around the artwork in both directions, stringing on a bead every other stitch. Tie together at the bottom.
  1. String three beads on each end. Tie a knot to keep beads in place. Trim.
