14th Annual Howard County Women's Hall of Fame Inducts Five Outstanding Women
On Thursday, March 11, County Executive Ken Ulman and the Howard County Commission for Women hosted the 14th annual Women’s Hall of Fame Ceremony.
This year the Commission selected five outstanding Howard County women for induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame: Lynne Battaglia, Alice Clark, Carol Filipczak, Ethel Hill and Becky Lessey.
Lynne Battaglia is a Judge, Professor of Law, U.S. Attorney and author. Alice Clark has the distinguished honor of being Howard County’s first African American Public Defender and Associate Judge. Carol Filipczak has been a longtime community volunteer and advocate for affordable housing, transportation, the environment and older adults. Attorney Ethel Hill is a dedicated civic servant who has been a tireless community advocate for children, youth and families, African-American women, and breast cancer awareness. Becky Lessey is an educator, volunteer and facilitator of programs that enhance the lives of foster children, children with disabilities, women, and adults.
